The Vipin Agrawal Memorial Scholarship Fund provides two computer science scholarships each year to students from low-income and immigrant backgrounds. In order to create diversity in the industry and spark new innovations, it is important to platform diverse undergraduate students.
VAMF awards scholarships to high school seniors who have the following qualifications:
- Attending a California state university, either CSU and UC school systems, AND went to a California high school
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science or related fields
- Parents immigrated to the United States
- Annual household income of less than $75,000
- Holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher
If you are interested in applying, please follow the link below to the google survey and fill in all of the information. The application opens April 15 and the deadline is June 30. You will need to have your high school transcripts, SAR (Student Aid Report) form, as well as responses to two essay prompts.
Education Essay Prompt (~300 words):
Describe a moment in which you realized education was important and share with us what your goals are for your education. For example, are you intending to pursue a postgraduate education? If yes, why? If not, what are your other goals for your education?
Cultural Background Essay Prompt (~300 words):
What does your cultural background mean to you? How do you feel it has shaped you and your goals? Cultural background can include your ethnicity, your religious background, your neighborhood, your local community, etc.
